Even though the closing force of the most powerful LabPro model can reach up to more than 5.000 kN, pressings that need much lower closing forces – 10 kN or less – will be handled with the same accuracy and consistency.

The LabPro press is largely automated and is equipped with a user-friendly touch screen control interface. Moreover, the integrated preset builder allows lab technicians to build and store up to 999 press recipes.

Our LabPro series are designed with the safety of the operator in mind. The CE-certified LabPro series therefore incorporates many safety features, such as a fixed upper platen, an emergency stop system and a safety shield.

An extensive range of options is available for the LabPro series, including a unique and very effective vacuum system which allows the use of high temperatures under vacuum conditions.

LabPro is the right choice for the most demanding quality control and R&D applications, as well as for the preparation of specific sample materials that need a custom approach.

The LabPro press is delivered with our ProView control system which includes a 15” touch screen for temperature and closing force control. The large screen area of the ProView system gives the user a very good view on the settings and progress of the LabPro as well as extra comfort to control the unit. It includes an automatic venting system/degassing stroke that allows to vent the unit by automatically opening and closing – after a preset period of time – the press.

Every LabPro is built to order. Force, temperature, platen size, daylight, cooling, vacuum — every parameter is configurable to match your precise application requirements.

250°C/min cassette cooling

The optional cassette cooling system achieves cooling rates of up to 250°C per minute — the fastest available in Fontijne's range — while platens remain continuously heated, drastically reducing cycle times.

Vacuum at up to 700°C

Uniquely, the LabPro's optional vacuum system can operate at temperatures up to 700°C — enabling advanced materials research that is simply not possible with any other series in the range.

CE-certified safety

Every LabPro is CE-certified and incorporates a fixed upper platen, emergency stop system and full safety shield — meeting the strictest safety requirements across all configurations.

Customisation

An option for every demand

Active cooling system

Automated water cooling of the press platens via electric valves, enabling fast temperature drops for successive tasks. Also cools the press frame to keep the surrounding case near ambient temperature. Can be made ASTM D4703-compliant (15°C/min ramp) upon request.

Vacuum system

Integrated vacuum pump in the support table creates 30–40 mbar inside the press chamber — even at temperatures up to 700°C. Supports inert gases (N₂, Ar). Additional features such as hardened glass windows, lighting, electrical feedthroughs or multiple daylights can be integrated on request. All modifications are CE-compliant.

Heating capacity to 700°C

Expands the standard temperature capability of the LabPro up to 700°C, enabling a much wider range of sample materials — including advanced ceramics, high-performance thermoplastics and specialty composites that require ultra-high process temperatures.

Fast heating system

Accelerates the heating process to 20°C/min — reaching 180°C in 8 minutes (vs. 16) and 400°C in just 19 minutes (vs. 38). A significant time saving for labs running multiple pressing cycles per day or per shift.

Custom daylight & platen sizes

Daylight opening (100–1000 mm) and platen size (225×225 to 1000×1000 mm) are fully configurable. Multiple extra daylights can be added for processing more samples per cycle, each with its own independent heating/cooling settings.

Oil heating

Oil-heated platens achieve an even more homogeneous temperature distribution across the platen surface compared to standard electrical heating — particularly valuable for large platens or applications with stringent temperature uniformity requirements.

Cassette cooling system

Two water-cooled platens slide horizontally — manually or motorised — between the press platens. Can also move vertically with the platens to allow cooling under pressure. Achieves up to 250°C per minute cooling — the most extreme cooling available. Platens remain continuously heated; the cassette is continuously cooled — reducing energy consumption and maximising throughput.

Floating upper platen

A secondary pneumatic system ensures weightless closure of the upper platen for ultra-low force pressing (0–10 kN). When higher forces are required, the press automatically switches to the standard hydraulic system — all within a single configuration.

Steel, aluminium & copper platens

Alternative platen materials offer different thermal conductivity profiles. Where extreme specific surface pressures are required, specially hardened platen materials are also available to prevent deformation under load.

Extend the standard warranty period and subscribe to a preventive maintenance and calibration service plan — keeping your LabPro performing at full specification over the long term.

Further accessories are available to match your workflow: exhaust / extraction hood (Ø200 mm Jacob flange), automatic venting cycle (1–99 degassing strokes), light signal — visible end-of-cycle indicator, sound signal — audible end-of-cycle alert...
